How I Eliminated Facebook "Friend" Requests From Clients

Updated: Mar 17, 2019

I used to struggle with the conversation of why I couldn't accept Facebook friend requests from clients (currently all behavioral health boards prohibit accepting friend requests from clients on social media personal accounts). Even though I had a clearly stated privacy policy in my intake paperwork, a few of these requests would slip through the cracks. It's understandable. In today's social media world, friend requests aren't necessarily reserved for your "besties."

Plus, clients share so much with their therapist in session - this disclosure is typically reserved for close connections. It's not a far leap to hit the "add friend" button.

In this video, I explain two simple changes you can make to your Facebook Profile that will easily reduce/eliminate friend requests from clients without hurting feelings!
